To help combat this inherent flaw in the locking systems fitted to the majority of uPVC doors, GSC locksmiths have tested many types of devices and systems designed to combat lock snapping and have come up with the below recommendation which we see as being the best defense against this method of entry,
ITEM 1: Kitemarked euro cylinder, anti snap, anti dill, anti bump
A British standard anti snap euro cylinder of the correct size should be fitted to all external doors, these locks protect against lock snapping by having predetermined snap lines, any unreasonable force will cause these cylinders to break in way where the door mechanism cannot be accessed by the burglar
ITEM 2: PAS24 Security handles
A set of PAS24/TS007 security handles should be fitted to further enhance door security, these handles have been approved by the secured by design labs, and effectively secure the lock behind an anti drill rotating disc so the cylinder cannot be directly attacked
ITEM 3: sash jammer
A basic sash jammer should also be fitted to help secure your home when occupied, these are a very simple device which can be fitted to doors as well as windows and stops the door from being opened when unlocked
